Parsley. Art Nouveau style pochoir illustrated by Anna Martin from the 1896 publication, La Plante et Ses Applications Ornementales, (Plants and Their Ornamental Applications). This collection was produced and edited by Franco-Swiss decorative artist Eugene Grasset. The book is a wonderful pictorial summations of Grasset's key idea concerning the use of natural forms as the basis for developing decorative motifs. Each piece was executed in stunning color, requiring several runs through the printing press (one for each color) to acquire such vibrancy. The piece is in good condition with some toning and light foxed (dark speckled) areas around the edges. Corners and edges show some handling wear.
