Dahlia 14 is a gorgeous Archival Inkjet Print by contemporary photographer Philip Gatward. This print 16" x 20" in a limited edition of 50 prints. Gatward's first personal project, 'Dahlias', focussed on the intricacies of this unusual flower. The revolute petals curve away from the center of the flower, and in this Semi-Cactus dahlia they only curve gently towards the tip of the petal, leaving the rest of the petal broad and wide and dense with rich orange hue. The collar, which is the smaller inner ring of florets, features similarly curved petals, which add a dynamic and eye-catching element to this portrait of this orange Semi-Cactus dahlia. In this ongoing and varied series, Gatward shoots his subjects, which range from flowers to animals, against the same neutral grey background, which brings out the fascinating symmetry of seeing something seemingly ordinary from very close up.
