Philip Gatward, Dahlia 2, Archival Pigment Print

Dahlia 5 is a gorgeous Archival Inkjet Print by contemporary photographer Philip Gatward. This print 16" x 20" in a limited edition of 50 prints. Gatward's first personal project, 'Dahlias', focussed on the intricacies of this unusual flower. Bright and vivid, the deep orange hue of this Dahlia melds smoothly into coral and garnet tones the more you gaze at it. The enlarged petals that flare out before uniting to form a perfectly pointed tip enhance the gemstone-like tonality of this rich color palette. The center of the Dahlia is dense with petals which lend themselves to the overall richness of this unique flower. In this ongoing and varied series, Gatward shoots his subjects, which range from flowers to animals, against the same neutral grey background, which brings out the fascinating symmetry of seeing something seemingly ordinary from very close up. The stunning variety and intense colours of these images are irresistible.
