Large watercolor painting on heavy art paper stock with a softly abstracted style, depicting a serene and shady walled garden including large mature trees to the left and a central paver path leading to a concrete or stone fountain. Main colors are shades of green and blue trending toward aqua and light turquoise, also some light purple used to nice effect to create shadows. The narrow reverse-cut mat around the border was chosen to complement the teal green accent on the simple wood frame, and we kept the original old glass. We included the piece's original framing label when we replaced the old materials for new acid-free materials. Work likely dates between 1950-1970. The artist did not sign this particular work, but it was one of several we acquired from his estate. By Louis W. Ballou (1904-1979), a notable 20th century architect of many major residential and commercial projects. We have other art works by Ballou available in our shop
