A watercolor painting by the American artist Sanford Brooks (1915-1994). Titled "Honfleur, France," this painting depicts the old port of the French city of Honfleur. Signed to the lower right, the painting is also signed and titled to the verso. The painting is unframed. Born in Ohio, Brooks studied architecture at Yale and went on to become a top executive of the Tool Steel Gear and Pinion Company of Cincinnati, Ohio. He began painting watercolors later in life and studied under Edgar Whitney and Laurence Sisson. Brooks eventually went on to teach art classes at Wilmington College and the Cincinnati Art Academy. He was also a member of the Cincinnati Art Club, the Ohio Watercolor Society, and the American Watercolor Society.
