Signed on old label, verso, 'Anthony Cooper' (Lithuanian-American, 1907-1992), titled, 'Spring Bouquet' and painted circa 1955. Antanas Skupas, also known as Anthony Cooper, attended the Art Institute of Chicago on a traveling scholarship in 1931. A member of the Chicago Art League and the All-Illinois Society of Fine Arts, Cooper also exhibited widely and with success, including frequently with the Art Institute of Chicago (1931-57), at the Chicago Century of Progress (1934), the Illinois State Museum (1938), the National Academy of Design (1945, 1947) and the CGA (1943, 1945), the Lithuanian Art Exhibition (Chicago, 1957).
