The Gallop of Centuries explores the kinetic energy and regal pageantry of the Durbar festival in Northern Nigeria. Moving beyond literal representation, this work captures the "heat" of the moment—both atmospheric and spiritual. Using a heavy impasto technique, the riders are carved into the canvas, mirroring how tradition is etched into the history of the Sahel. The dominant, fiery orange palette serves as a monochromatic lens, stripping away distractions to highlight the raw momentum of the charge. Thick, rhythmic palette knife strokes create a surface as turbulent and alive as the dust kicked up during the Jawan Dawaki. This painting is a tribute to a millennium-old legacy. By blending ancient cavalry traditions with an expressive, contemporary style, I invite the viewer into the center of the roar, where history and the present moment collide in a singular, golden blur.
