The Laughing Tree is a contemporary limited edition print from my Of a [Familiar] Nature series, created in 2025. Digitally hand-drawn, this surreal botanical composition reflects on the relationship between nature and the built world, and on the ways human presence shapes, contains, and disrupts the spaces around us. Set within a winter landscape of trees and snow, the work brings together organic form, quiet tension, and a dreamlike sense of narrative. Monkeys appear among the branches, while red cardinals move through the upper canopy, introducing warmth, movement, and a sense of life within the stillness of the scene. The tree becomes both shelter and stage, holding these animals within a space that feels at once natural and subtly shaped by human presence. The piece considers coexistence, adaptation, and the fragile balance between the wild and the built environment. Offered as a limited-edition archival pigment print on paper, framed in a 2" solid white wood frame, in two sizes: 38" x 38" framed, edition of 5; and 26" x 26" framed, edition of 10.
