The Sincere Undertaking is a contemporary limited edition print from my Of a [Familiar] Nature series, created in 2025. Digitally hand-drawn, the work reflects on the relationship between nature and the built world, and on the ways human presence shapes the spaces around us. In this piece, I was thinking about the human urge to bring order, meaning, and care to something that remains unruly and alive. For me, it’s about attention, intention, and the limits of control. The central magpie feels like a kind of witness within that tension, while the other birds appear more as silhouettes or traces. I was interested in the space between tenderness and interference — in the idea that even our most sincere efforts to understand, protect, or improve the natural world can also leave a mark on it. The piece sits for me in that uneasy place where beauty, care, and disturbance coexist. Offered as a limited-edition archival pigment print on paper, framed in a 2" solid white wood frame, in two sizes: 38" x 38" framed, edition of 5; and 26" x 26" framed, edition of 10.
