He made his debut in 1918 in Copenhagen, but has spent an extended period in France in the 1920s. Here he was influenced by artists like Braque, Picasso and Cézanne. Hi style was characterised by clear, bright lines and few colours. Later on he adapted to a looser modern art with contrast in colors and form.
