A Pair of Vintage German Paul Geissler Architectural Etchings. Printmaker and painter Paul Geissler was born in Erfurt, Germany (1881-1965). He studied at the School of Arts and Crafts in Erfurt, followed by studies School of Arts in Weimar under Max Thedy. His early interest in painting gave way to etching, the medium for which he is most famous. For most of his career, Geissler lived and worked in the city of Munich. During the 1920's and 1930's Paul Geissler's etchings reached an international reputation. He etched views in France, Spain, Italy and England and in 1929, he was commissioned by the city of New York to depict some of the principal buildings in a series of etchings. Examples of Paul Geissler's art are found in permanent collections of major museums in Berlin, Vienna, Manheim and Munich. The artist’s signature is printed in-plate at the lower left and written in pencil in the lower right margin. The etchings are ready to hang and are in excellent condition. Dimensions: Framed 14.25" W x 1" D x 18.125" H Image 7.25" W x 10" H In very good condition considering age and history.
