A marvelous piece of Americana. An early 19th Century villager made wooden cupboard, with an original red paint and leather straps—for the two hinges and the latch. The utilitarian handmade piece of history opens to two compartments, an upper chamber with yet another mystery door; and a bottom roomier one. To us the magnificence of this piece, besides everything else we just noted, is the lustful patina; The cherry-pumpkin-fiery brick red is to die-for; but in addition to the color is the waxy-glistening look of the actual time developed surface. This to us stole the show. Please note that everything in this piece is original except for the hinge on the inner door. It was a necessary make-do repair. The best of us needs a little help along life's journey. This item was found in Pennsylvania, United States.
