Exquisite pair of Neoclassic hand carved and 23K water gilt wall sconces or girandoles. Sconces have a small shelf, presumably for displaying a small vase or figurine. Each sconce has 2 metal arms with giltwood elements and candle cups with Adams style decoration. Sconces have been retrofitted for electric with exterior wiring and use 2 - 40 watt max candleabra "B" base incandescent bulbs. Age appropriate wear and patina. Likely 19th Century, possibly earlier and of English or French origin. 27" tall X 11-1/2" W X 5" projection. Inventory #P2181. Provenance: The collection of Mr. & Mrs. Charles Fleischmann III.
