An exceptional antique William IV Leather and Walnut wing back armchair. This is possibly Irish or English, it dates from around the 1820-1840 period. We have said this is walnut, but it’s really hard to be sure, because of the wonderful patina, so it could equally be mahogany. It is of outstanding quality and is of lovely proportions, it is also extremely comfortable. The solid walnut frame has and incredibly beautiful design, with fine, crisp carving throughout. The upper wings are leather on the inside and walnut on the outside, they can be removed as seen in the images. This stands on wonderfully carved and fluted front legs with brass casters. We have had this re-polished, the leather has been slightly enhanced by our leather restorer, it has a beautiful colour tone and patina. The condition is excellent for its age.
