Soapmen Deconstructivism Candle 2, Grafting — Yellow
$139
Gessato
Does it really smell like old books? Yes—dry paper and wood shavings at first strike, then rose and lily soften into vetiver, sandalwood, and pine. From SOAPMEN’s Deconstructivism series with BOLTBOLT (Gallery), Candle 2 — Grafting stacks offset volumes into a mustard-yellow block that reads like an architectural model. It questions the usual “candle = cylinder” rule and leans into mood instead: library light at 4 p.m., card catalog drawers, dust on polished wood. The opening flashes tuberose, violetwood, and grapefruit-bright lift; the heart turns floral and quiet; the base lands warm, slightly resinous. Short sessions keep the papery top notes vivid; longer burns pull forward the woods.
