The Grand Repos (French for “great rest”) is one of the more sculptural, expressive sofa designs by the French design duo Robert Guillerme and Jacques Chambron, produced under their Votre Maison line. It is known for combining elegance, comfort, and structural boldness, resulting in a piece that is as much a sculptural statement as a functional sofa. This Guillerme et Chambron Sofa displays a beautiful contrast between the light wooden oak frame and the elegant light fabric of the cushions. With a solid wooden frame, the support for the back consists of eleven wooden spindles extending upwards yet slightly curved, resulting in a rounded backrest. The cushions have been upholstered in premium bouclé fabric in Vanilla. The pillow for the backrest has been embellished with thirty-six tufted buttons on the front and back, as well as with loops encompassing the back spindles ensuring that the cushion stays in position. The bottom consists of two cushions framed by the curved wooden armrests which extend to the front legs. The piece does not have a maker's mark.
