This elegant pair of desk lamps was manufactured by bäcklunds järn & smide (bjs) in skellefteå, sweden during the 1960s. executed in white lacquered steel with polished brass flexible goosenecks, the lamps perfectly embody the restrained aesthetic of scandinavian modern design. The adjustable necks allow the light to be directed with ease, making them ideal as bedside lamps, reading lights or desk lamps. both lamps retain their original bjs maker's stamp underneath the base. they remain in good original vintage condition with minor paint losses, surface scratches and an attractive brass patina. The white lacquer has aged slightly differently between the two lamps, creating a subtle variation in colour that reflects their originality. a rare surviving pair of swedish modern lighting combining practical functionality with timeless scandinavian design.
