A uniquely decorated ceramic floor lamp by the polish immigrant, professor, artist and ceramist marian zawadzki (1933-2012). The motifs are one of a kind and the bases of these large floor lamps are commonly called masterpieces, this dessin 'the all-seeing eye' is hand-signed by mz and dated 1966. Its simple form and striking decor speaks to an honest expression of the natural earthenware. The texture of this particular earthenware is very tactile, with sections left deliberately coarse and unglazed. The unglazed sections create confident contrast against the individually glazed sections of boldly abstract geometric figures/shapes derived from early modernism and cubism. The base features diffrent abstract decor to each sides. Everything created in the sgraffito technique where the patterns are hand-scratched into the clay and the diffrent glazes applied afterwards. It comes with its original large conical hessian shade. measurements: h: 135 cm (adjustable up to 150 cm with included shade holder). (70/65 cm (shade/ceramic body). Diameters: shade 25/15 cm approximately. Base: 25 cm at its widest. for the us. It will come installed with a 110 watt adaptor plug ready for use.
