Rare piece in cherry wood veneer and solid cherry wood, topped with a black marble top slightly veined with white. This Empire style cylindrical bedside table is of a remarkable design due to the quality of its wood. The cherry wood here is different from the mahogany used exclusively in the early 19th century for the realization of the somnos. The beauty of the cherry wood and its luminous veining is perfectly highlighted by this small piece of furniture of style. It has a vertical cherry wood veneer base and a solid cherry wood bevelled edge. In the recess, a large cylinder is formed in two thirds of a curved door with a single element in heart of cherry wood without joint. This door has two brass hinges on the right side and a handle representing a hand, accompanied by its clasp. Inside, we discover two shelves in cherry wood. In the upper part, this somno has a strip of birch veneer topped by a chamfered part to accommodate the black marble that overhangs it. Note that the construction of the base of this cylindrical piece of furniture is made of solid wood slats of a few centimeters wide glued together. Elegant and refined, this unique somno will charm you with its shimmering color and soft shapes. ******** Period : Beginning of XIXth century Excellent condition after restoration in our workshop.
