This lighting bowl was manufactured in the 20s or 30s by the firm of Degué, one of France's top lighting manufacturers. Typically such lighting bowls were made without the "blow-out" aspect to the bottom of this bowl, and you can readily see that this configuration lent itself nicely to the artist's floral designs. Degué, in fact, hired some of the finest artist/designers of the time, and the designs which followed won wide approval which continues to this day. The stylized, bold leaves and petals reflect the Art Deco design mentality of the day. Note that the glass bowl, which has a frosted finish throughout, has no color. The warm tones you see in the photos are strictly the result of the photography and the presence of an incandescent bulb inside the glass bowl. The hardware is made of solid brass or bronze (the canopy) and has been plated in a brushed nickel finish, and in the instance of the canopy, patinated to look antique. Rewired and fitted with one new American standard socket, which can host any size bulb you want. Measurements: slightly less than 14 inches in diameter, hanging around 18 inches as shown.
