This Dutch Delft table lamp started life as a vintage Royal Tichelaar Makkum vase, hand-painted between 1948 and 1979, and was turned into a one-of-a-kind lamp by Amitābha Studio with a new coral pleated silk shade. The painting is what stands out: a flowering garden full of life — big iron-red and ochre blooms, green leaves, small trees, and birds resting in the branches — all set against a white tin-glaze background. A scalloped scroll runs around the shoulder and a stylized blue wave wraps the foot. Finished with new brass fittings and a fabric-wrapped blue cord. Newly wired for U.S. use; international plug customization available at no charge. Height includes the shade. Every bit of the decoration was done by hand. The colors were brushed over the tin glaze and then fired so they sink into the surface — the same polychrome method Makkum has used for generations. The pottery behind it is one of the oldest businesses in the Netherlands, traced back to a 1572 kiln in the Frisian town of Makkum and kept in the same family for nearly four hundred years. It shifted toward decorative Delft-style earthenware in the 1890s.
