1717 Battle Of Belgrade Hand-Colored Engraving Prince Eugene Of Savoy

Chairish

$345

An authentic 18th-century hand-colored engraving of "The Battle of Belgrade," published in London by Carington Bowles (c. 1770-1780). This "Small Folio" print (image approx. 13 x 9") depicts the decisive 1717 victory of Prince Eugene of Savoy over the Ottoman Empire. The piece features a detailed topographical view of the city fortifications, the Danube and Sava rivers, and a dramatic cavalry engagement in the foreground. A numbered key at the bottom identifies 13 strategic locations, including the "Grand Vizier’s Quarter."Condition: The print shows significant "antique character" with heavy tattering/paper loss at the left margin and light toning throughout. This organic wear confirms its 250-year age. Framing: Professionally housed in a large 24 x 18.5 inch vintage gold-finish wood frame with a textured sage-green mat. Ready to hang. Publisher: Printed for Carington Bowles, No. 69 in St. Paul’s Church Yard, London.
