A vintage reproduction print of antique Ukiyo-e woodblock print by Utagawa Hiroshige, from his series, "The Fifty-three Stations of the Tōkaidō Road". Forty-Ninth station, Tsuchiyama village. In the title block: "Spring Rain". On the left, trees and houses of the village in the rain. Below, the head of a procession of a daimyo (powerful Japanese magnate, feudal lord) preceded by two halberdiers. The brown and green of the samurai's raincoats contrast with great taste with the blue colors of the torrent. This reproduction print is not a woodblock reproduction, but offset, full-color print. Detailed. Comes from a rare art folio published by Editions du Credit Lyonnais in Paris, France, in 1960. Printed in France, on one side of high quality heavy paper. Blank back, numbered on the back: L. Nearly excellent condition - minor edge wear, it was pinned in the past, two tiny holes very close to the top corners were smoothed and are barely visible, never framed.
