We are selling this very well painted landscape scene with a central depiction of a man and his horse. The man is chiseling a name in a gravestone hopefully not for his trusty steed, the artist has very skillfully painted the horse. The painting has a stamp on the back for George Rowney & Co of London but the painting has more of a German landscape feel than an English one. The painting is signed on the stretcher and dated 1870, can't read the artist but might be Langford? Condition: Some tears to the canvas with some areas of paint flaking and loss elsewhere. Heavy crazing to the surface. Dimensions: Height 26 Inches 66.0 cm Width 29 7/8 Inches 75.9 cm Depth 1 Inches 2.6 cm Sight Height 22 1/4 Inches 56.4 cm Sight Width 26 1/4 Inches 66.6 cm
