Chinese triple bats scroll, finely painted in colored inks on heavy paper, mounted on a shimmering, silk brocade done in lt blue, gold and grey in a dragon medallions pattern, signed, with one inscription, several titles and honorifics in black xingshu script and numerous red seal marks in various sizes and shapes. The scroll has black silk makio and kakio at the top and black jikusaki at the bottom. The outer scroll covering is a light gold silk brocade in a floral pattern. Circa Republic of China era, no later than mid century. The image size is 27" wide x 52.5" high. The depth of 1.25" is the diameter of the jikusaki Three bats frolic beneath a full moon at the side of a rocky mountain promontory with flowering bushes, grasses and plants, in front of a wide, cascading cataract.
