This stunning etching reproduction depicts a highly ornate horse harness used by Henry II. This print is part of a larger book by the artist Nicolas Xavier Willemin (1763-1833), titled Monuments français inédits pour servir à l'histoire des arts depuis le VIe siècle jusqu'au commencement du XVIIe, published in 1839. The title reads "Harnais du cheval de Henri II, gravé d’après un dessin du temps, tiré du cabinet de Mr. de St. Morys, maire à Hondainville" (Horse harness of Henry II, engraved after a contemporary drawing, taken from the collection of Mr. de St. Morys, mayor of Hondainville). I have several of these beautiful etchings listed and these would make a stunning wall display grouping.
