The Perfect Stranger is a contemporary limited edition print from my Of a [Familiar] Nature series, created in 2025. Digitally hand-drawn, this surreal botanical and architectural composition reflects on the relationship between nature and the built world, and on the ways human presence shapes, contains, and disrupts the spaces around us. Vivid blue branching forms move through a geometric structural framework, giving the work an organic, urban, and dreamlike quality. Throughout the composition, beautiful insects, delicate creatures, and caterpillars appear within the tension of the architectural setting. At the center of the work is the spotted lantern fly, presented as a visually unusual and compelling presence, fragile, exotic, and strangely luminous. The piece considers how beauty, difference, and evolutionary success can provoke fear, suspicion, or hostility rather than admiration. Offered as a limited-edition archival pigment print on paper, framed in a 2" solid white wood frame, in two sizes: 38" x 38" framed, edition of 5; and 26" x 26" framed, edition of 10.
