This is a large and rather old print with the artist's signature(barely legible) of Paul Fischer, a Danish painter also known as Paul Gustav Fischer (1860 - 1934), who painted many scenes of the Copenhagen Flower Market that were subsequently made into prints. While the age of the print is not known, it likely dates back to the '30s or '40s. It was purchased at a Sotheby's auction in the 1980s, and was reframed about 20 years ago with a burnished silver leaf frame and ivory colored mat. It is in excellent condition. Its dominant colors are shades of dusty rose, gray, and taupe. The scene depicts street life with vendors, shoppers, and pedestrians milling about. it is a charming and very interesting scene, emblematic of a by-gone era. The dimensions listed include the frame.
