Original hand painted swedish pine wall cabinet circa 1840. Dated 1840 either side of initials on the top of the door. Known as Allmoge in Sweden, this hand-painted cupboard retains much of its original paintwork, although it is in a scraped-back condition. Shaped cornice, below which the single lockable door opens to a single shelf interior, unusually, this piece is fitted with a concealed drawer forming part of the bottom moulding. retaining most of its original artwork to the sides. Later lock and key, fitted with 20th-century brackets on the reverse for wall mounting. Evidence of an old repair to the shelf front inside the interior, minor losses to woodwork and expected fading to paint. Strong and fit for everyday use.
