This authentic 18th-century copperplate engraving, titled Ambianaeus, is a highly important ethnographic work published in Augsburg, Germany by the celebrated printmaker and art publisher Jeremias Wolff (1663–1724). The plate belongs to Wolff's highly rare and prestigious series of 24 depictions of women and men from various regions of the world (circa 1720).
