Chinese Kuan Yin riding a qilin scroll, in freely drawn, colored inks on heavy paper, mounted on a shimmering golds and light blue, silk brocade nakamawashi (presents as shimmering green) in a floral vines pattern, with a ten and ji of a silk brocade in light golds in a floral vines under a seal script pattern. At the top of the image there is a violet and gold, silk brocade ichimonji in a quatrefoils over a wanzi lattice pattern. Above the ichimonji there are four, large, kaishu script characters over a fine line drawing of a dragon in shimmering, gold ink. The scroll is signed in Chinese xingshu script with one red seal mark at the upper right of the image. The scroll has a tan cord makio and kakeo at the top and light mahogany jikusaki at the bottom. The silk brocade, outer, scroll cover repeats the ten and ji brocade pattern. An export document is affixed to the upper left of the scroll and also to the exterior cover with a wax seal. Circa Republic of China era, no later than mid century. The image size is 18.375" wide x 35" high. A finely drawn and detailed depiction of Kuan Yin, clothed in long flowing robes and wearing the Crown Of Amitabha, with a golden halo, riding a saddled quilin along a riverbank amid gnarled mountain pines, holding the Vase of the Nectar of Life in her right hand and the Willow Branch in her left.
