Chinese landscape scroll, freely drawn colored inks on heavy paper, mounted on a light/dark gold, dark blue, silk brocade in a dragon and fenghuang medallions lattice pattern, signed, with a poem and numerous red seal marks in various sizes and shapes. With a shimmering dark bronze silk makio and kakio at the top and black jikusaki at the bottom. The outer scroll covering is raw silk in a light gold color. The image size is 24 1/2" wide x 48 1/2" high. Circa early 20th century, no later than mid century. In the foreground, a boatman is anchored in a river next to a rocky bouldered bank covered with groves of trees, shrubs and grasses. A massive forested precipice at right mid ground rises and recedes into the top right, while the further hilly shorelines on the left march into the distance in traditional Chinese aerial perspective.
